Carol Baker is the Editor and Director of Marketing of CREDIT CONTROL JOURNAL and REDALERT. She has held this position since 1992. Carol is the author of three books: Computer Applications in Credit, Export Credit and Retention of Title; and specialises in corporate insolvency, banking law, fraud, corporate credit, asset and risk management, consumer finance, debt management, accountancy and Information Technology. Carol has been a journalist for a considerable number of years, working first at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales on its publication Accountancy, and has been dealing with governmental, financial and legal issues — probably for more years than she cares to mention. Carol is a member of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists; a member of the Institute of Credit Management; and Vice Chairman of the Institute of Credit Management’s Essex Branch. As a journalist, Carol has written for a number of publications from The Financial Times and The Guardian, through to Lloyds List, Export Today, IFW, and Company Accountant. She is also a past editor of www.businesszone.co.uk, and has written for www.businesseurope.com and www.accountingweb.co.uk on a regular basis. Carol undertakes research work for government departments, and is on the International Editorial Board of a number of open access publications.
On the charity side: Carol is proud to be one of the founding trustees of the Sherbet Foundation, a grant making charity that has been set up by Claire Sandbook, CEO of Shergroup to assist families affected by enforcement action. (The Charity’s Chairman is Master Robert Turner.) The Sherbet Foundation is particularly concerned to ensure that where children are in the home, and mum and/or dad have become judgment debtors that a Sherbet Foundation grant is made available to help the family get back on its feet, and regain its self-respect.
