ABOUT BRENTWOOD
Brentwood has a variety of businesses including retailers, professional services, hotels, restaurants, private hospitals, conference facilities, banks and building societies, marketing companies and manufacturers. Chamber of Commerce membership ranges from large international companies to small, home-based companies.

Brentwood School
There are a number of industrial areas or parks in and around Brentwood:
  • Childerditch Industrial Park
  • Hallsford Bridge Industrial Estate
  • Hubert Road Industrial Estate
  • Hutton Industrial Estate
  • Warley Business Park
  • Wates Way/Ongar Road Industrial Estate
  • West Horndon Industrial Estate
  • Upminster Trading Park, Warley Street
The main concentrations of commercial activity are in:
  • Brentwood High Street and its adjacent roads. These form the primary focus of the Borough's commercial, cultural, religious, leisure and educational life. The town centre contains over 300 shops, banks, restaurants and public houses and a number of both large and small offices. The information centre, our chamber base, is also sited in the High Street.
  • The area around Brentwood station and Warley Hill contains another large concentration of office development, conveniently located close to the main line station, plus a number of neighbourhood shops and support businesses.
  • Shenfield, which is a very popular neighbourhood shopping centre, with a small number of office developments. Businesses are centred on the railway station, The Broadway and Hutton Road. Shenfield station is a major railway terminus and interchange for rail passengers to London, and between the East Coast and Southend networks.
  • Ingatestone is the Borough's largest commercial centre outside the town of Brentwood, concentrated on the High Street, with a mix of shops, offices, pubs and restaurants.

RECOGNITION AWARDS SCHEME
As part of our ongoing commitment to the local community, Brentwood Chamber of Commerce have introduced a Recognition Awards scheme

Why have recognition awards?
As a Chamber of Commerce we are often told about certain of our members staff who have given great service or added significant value to their company or organisation. We never underestimate the impact a key member of staff can have to any part of the business. With this in mind the Chamber Executive decided that it would be right and proper to recognise the input that these people have to our member organisations.

What form would recognition take?
We will prepare a certificate for presentation to your member of staff, which can be presented in a number of ways. Either the Chairman or Vice Chair would come along to formally present it at a mutually agreed time and place. It could also be presented at a Chamber networking lunch. Photos will be taken and highlighted in the Brentwood wide Chamber news magazine. They will also be submitted to the local press along with the citation and further comment.

How do I apply?
A Citation form needs to be obtained from the Chamber office and then completed. It should then be returned to the office in Pepperell House.

What happens then?
Once a citation has been received from a member organisation it will be discussed at the next meeting of the awards committee and the monthly executive meeting. We will then contact you.

What is the cost?
The certificate and attendance of a chamber executive officer would be at our expense. Any further cost would be born by the organisation giving the citation or any sponsor that might be arranged. You might wish to add a reward of your own.

Can I sponsor the award?
It is possible to sponsor the Brentwood Chamber Recognition awards by contacting the Executive Secretary Mr Mike Hawkins at the Chamber office, to discuss how this might be done.

Value?
We believe that it is right to recognise the significant input that people make to their employers throughout Brentwood and be given public recognition for that personal level of effort. Businesses and organisations in Brentwood contribute both economically and socially to our town and its outlying areas and it is the people who make up these organisations that have the biggest impact locally. Staff who receive this type of recognition from a locally recognised body, such as the Chamber, feel that their effort has been properly recognised by their employer. This has many benefits to staff morale which go beyond the individual who has been recognised.

What next ?
To start the ball rolling we need you to complete a Recognition Award application award form, which can be obtained from the Chamber office in the High Street by phoning the office and we will send one to you in the post. It might be helpful to discuss the award you want to make with one of the Chamber officers.

Please contact one of the team below so that we can get things under way. Thank you.

USE OF THE CHAMBER LOGO
The Executive Committee has decided that members should be allowed to use Chamber's logo on your official company stationery (letterheads etc) if you think you can enhance your business by showing that you are members of Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. It will also help to advertise Chamber itself.

Please reproduce the logo strictly as shown below, using the template given:

Member of

This entire logo assembly should be of a lesser size than your own company's logo/name (on letter heads/invoices etc) or you might be wrongly mistaken for Chamber itself. The reason that we need to adhere to this control structure is in order that Chamber does not risk losing the rights to our own logo. There is no charge for this facility, which is part of your membership entitlement.

If you want to reproduce the logo more prominently than the standard guidelines above allow, or in an unusual setting, please apply to Chamber office first, with a specimen of the proposed usage for approval.
